Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, a month of intense prayer and dawn-to-dusk fasting. The fast is intended to bring the believer closer to God and to remind them of the suffering of those less fortunate. Ramadan is a month that God has distinguished and revealed his eternal miracle to the Day of Judgment, the miracle of the Holy Quran, God Almighty says : “The month of Ramadan [is that] in which was revealed the Quran, guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran, 2: 185). This blessed month is an opportunity for the Muslims to excel in worshiping their God, a time to detach from worldly pleasures and focus on one’s prayers, a while of mercy and remission of sins, a month in which the doors of hell are closed and the doors of Paradise are opened, a station to receive the great reward and satisfaction of God, a month of honor and generosity and preference for the Islamic nation, every second of it has promoted to forgiveness and emancipation from hell. However, Ramadan still be the biggest challenge to examine the human will in fasting, doing good deeds and self-purification from the many mistakes. So we need to be aware of our doings, because we will be judged on the quality of our attitude and behaviors, and everything we do, say, or write. We will also be judged on what we fail to do when we could in fact do it.
Furthermore, the month of Ramadan has many health benefits on the human body, Perhaps this is what many Muslims do not know. It activates the digestive system, treats its various problems, strengthens the brain’s work and activates it. In addition, it saves people from many bad habits, including the psychological habits like anger and anxiety.
To conclude, Muslims should exploit this holy month well by reading the Qur’an, praising God, seeking God’s forgiveness and doing good deeds.
Blessed Ramadan to you all!
